What should I definatly try to eat?

Hey everybody,

I was just wondering what foods I really should try when I'm at Hawaii. I at least want to try some strange fruits and a burger (burgers in the Netherlands are nothing compared to the US).

Fruit may depend on the season. Go to the Farmer's Markets, many vendors will have samples of the fruit.

Honolulu is the center of the Hawaiii eating experience...

With an incredible selection of local and ethnic foods unmatched elsewhere in the islands.

Plan on trying as many places as possible while on Oahu, and enjoy the fruits on the other islands.

Teddy's Burgers on Kapahulu Ave, at the Kapiolani Park/diamond head end of Waikiki for a great selection of awesome burgers.

Go a few blocks up the street and check-out Rainbow Drive-In, the ultimate local food joint.

Try yakiniku. A wonderful, relaxing experience where you cook marinated meats and veggies at a grill on your table.

Gyu-Kaku on Lewers St in Waikiki is pretty good, and has an early and late Happy Hour with great prices.

There are great Korean and Japanese yakiniku joints near Waikiki if you want to venture out a bit.

Go Asian. Go out into the community. You will find incredible, inexpensive selection of a broad range of Asian and local places.

I think Honolulu Burger Co....

While still great, and I have always recommended, has slipped a couple notches over the last year.

Not sure it is worth a trek out of Waikiki any more than Kua Aina at Ward Centre or a couple other joints.

Teddy's is in Waikiki, easy to find, a good experience in selection for a foreign visitor, and you can enjoy it in a beachfront park.

Amberloo-if they get out of Waikiki--is the Corner still any good?
