Best way for multi island trip

We are planning September 2014 trip to Hawaii. 10 days and we like to move around. Plans are 3 islands during this time, flying to Oahu then Maui then Big Island and want to fly out of the Big Island. Questions are plenty as this seems like a complicated trip. Any advice on how to do this or what we should do is welcome. We are experienced but island hopping raises some concerns.

You should be concerned. Ten days is not enough time to visit 3 islands. You'll waste too much of your precious trip if you have to spend two days flying between islands. If you like to move around, book hotels on different parts of the same island. If you want to visit three islands, stay on Maui and take a boat tour to Lanai.

Ten days is not long enough to enjoy three islands. The Big Island is really big and you will not see much of it unless you allow 5-7 nights.

I'd stick with Oahu and Maui

You don't have near enough time for 3 island. Two, maybe. Interisland travel requires the same, drawn-out security process as any other travel in the states. Each "hop" is going to eat up at least 4 hours and a fair bit of $$.
