Visiting Pearl Harbour

Hello All,

My wife and I visiting Hawaii next month for our Honeymoon, we are staying in Maui however we are both very interested in visiting Pearl Harbour.

What would you say is the best way to go about this? I know there would be a fair bit of travel involved however this is not a problem for us.

can anyone recommend a specific tour guide to use?

any other recommendations will be greatly appreciated as neither of us have visited Hawaii before.

Many thanks ;-)

Catch a flight to Oahu on Hawaiian airlines, then take a rent car, taxi or the bus to Pearl Harbor.

No need to book or pay for any tours. Pearl Harbor is free, but you should book tickets to the Arizona Memorial (which is inside Pearl Harbor) ahead of time on recreation.gov website. It costs a $1.50 booking fee for each ticket, and then you have a guaranteed time to go out to the memorial.

You do have to pick up your tickets 1 hour ahead of your scheduled time. Also, you can not carry ANY kind of bag inside Pearl Harbor. No purses, camera bags, back packs, fanny packs......nothing. Only what you can carry in your hands or in your pockets.

Have a great trip.

Stop by and speak to the WWII veterans who usually sit behind a table in front of the store. They'll give you their autograph and take a picture with you if you'd like. I would also highly recommend touring the USS Missouri and Bowfin submarine, too, since you are there. Seek out off of the very capable tour guide on the Missouri to get a more complete history of this amazing vessel.

I second both posts above.

Just get an early morning flight to Oahu, rent a car. Pearl Harbor is about a 15 min. drive from the airport. You can spend most of your day there and then you might want to drive into Waikiki (30 min. drive from Pearl Harbor) and have an early dinner and walk on the beach. Take a late evening flight back to Maui.

Are you flying directly to Maui ... or directly home from Maui? Will you be fly in or out of Honolulu?

When in February?

The first date in February that has 2 tickets available for USS Arizona Memorial tour is February 23. Those are for 35 of the 150 seats on each tour.

Commercial tours also get advanced reservations.

The rest of the tickets are for walk-ups. You'll need to get to the visitors center around 7am.

You don't need advanced reservations for the other three museums (USS Missouri, USS Bowfin and Pacific Aviation Museum).

Thankyou all for your contributions, has been of immense help!

We will be flying into Honolulu from San Fran, then taking a connecting flight to head to Maui...So im thinking of staying in Oahu for a while now instead of jumping straight on a flight to Maui, will save coming back a few days later.

We are arriving in Hawaii on Feb 20th and will be staying for 10 nights before heading on to Las Vegas.
