Looking for some help with a drive through.......

We are looking at coming through Indiana on our way from Wisconsin to Disney. We will be coming down 65. I have a couple of questions:

1) What is the best way through Indianapolis? Any time frames we should avoid?

2) Is there any road construction that could really hamper our drive time?

3) Anything we should stop at along the way? We only want things that are right off of 65 as we want to make it to Disney without too many detours. We plan on coming back through and spending more time in 2 years when we visit the smokies. But on this trip we are only looking for neat things along the way to see and have the kids stretch their legs.

Any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Traffic in Indianapolis is generally not that bad. Needless to say, it will be heaviest during the morning and evening rush hours, but still not that bad in the grand scheme of the world, as opposed to say, Atlanta. Not aware of any major projects on 65, though you can check the state's website for a list of construction zones at http://www.in.gov/indot/2310.htm

You might enjoy taking a break at the Fair Oaks Dairy Farm (good homemade ice cream, restaurant, picnic, birthing barns, etc) north of Lafayette, though if you are from WI you may be trying to get away from the cows...

There is no place to stop for this, but something your kids may enjoy seeing right from the highway - a very large wind farm opened last year on the east side of 65, just north of Lafayette. You can't miss it.

Falls of the Ohio State Park right before you leave Indiana can also be kind of fun if the water is low, as it should be in July. Walk out onto the limestone river bed and see the fossils embedded in the rock. Visitors center, bathrooms, etc.
