Which lake in Kentucky??

Hello All,

We are looking to meet-up with in-laws at a Ky lake(we are from VA and in-laws from MO). After some research, have learned about dry counties, low water levels in some lakes etc. Please help, which is/are the nicest all-around lake/s for swimming, boating, fishing, family fun. Looking for at least 4 bedroom lakefront house for 3 couples + 2 boys 10 & 14 in August.

Thanks alot in advance to all...

Lake Barkley is a great place to vacation. There are some great resorts there. Good luck.

I cant remember details about the dry county/wet county situation, plus there are always elections changing that...but i know the town of Murray to the west, on the KY lake side is legal to purchase beverages that you can transport on your trunk. If coming from the East (Barkley side), you could definitely stop in Bowling Green on the way.

That said, generally speaking most people seem to feel that Barkley has nicer lodging, rentals, etc. but there are excellent fishing, skiing, recreational spots allover the area in both lakes. The whole area is ties together at the North end by Ky Dam Village.

A couple additional websites to visit:

Have fun,

If you are looking for a place to stay: www.hiddencaveranch.com located in the south central of Kentucky. 5 miles from Dale hollow Lake and 10 miles from Lake Cumberland. Horseback riding and cave exploring on the property. It's 2 hours to Knoxville, 2 hours to Nashville, 1 hour to Cookeville and 2 hours to Louisville.

Cadiz/Trigg County (where Barkley Lodge is located) is no longer dry (and that refers to both alcohol and water levels!) Feel free to contact me if you'd like more information on our fabulous corner of the world.
