Will we miss the foliage?

So worried we will have missed the spectacular colours when we arrive in Maine from Boston on 22nd October. Any comments welcome.

I think that you will miss the peak, however that is defined. However, there still will be foliage in autumnal colors. You may miss the bright, acrylic reds, oranges, and yellows of the maples, but the oaks and others should still be very evident. Also, the coastal areas and islands tend to develop and retain their color later than do the inland and northern areas.

if you stick to the southern coast, you won't be disappointed. York , Wells, Kennebunkport , Portland, etc. should still be very pretty.
