What to do for "not active couple"

We are in our 50's and looking to take a week trip in august. We are not hikers or kayackers but do enjoy nature, animals, boat tours, shopping, . We want to see the lighthouses and the quaint towns. We will be driving from NJ. Can you direct me. I have just started researching. Would like to hit all the major towns..if we go to Acadia what do we do as we don't fish, etc. Oh and we love to eat and want to stay in a nice place. Thanks.

This site might get you started for Acadia area.

Also, in Acadia National Park, you could spend quite a bit of time driving the park loop road stopping for scenic views and photographs. You could go to Jordan's Pond House for popovers and ice cream. There are a variety of boat cruises to match many different interests and amount of time.

You definitely don't have to hike or kayak or bike or rock climb in order to enjoy Acadia. And hardly anyone fishes here. There are some very nice places to stay and a good choice of places to dine. For lodging you can look at waterfront hotels: Bar Harbor Inn or Harborside or you can stay in a luxury B&B like Saltair or Bass Cottage Inn. Good restaurants: Mache Bistro, Havana, Fathom, McKay's, Gayln's and in Southwest Harbor, Red Sky or Fiddler's Green.

As said above, you can drive to all the good scenery: Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, Otter Cliffs, Jordan Pond, the top of Cadillac. The boat cruises are fun. The one we are going to do with company at the end of the month is the mail boat from Northeast Harbor out to the Cranberry Islands. You can spend some time on Isleford (Little Cranberry) just poking around and having lunch out on the pier. Lots and lots to do without getting sweaty or too active.
