Hi! We are a couple in our late 50's coming to Maine from Colorado for the first time, the last week of September. We will land in Manchester on Saturday afternoon and return from there the following Sunday. We are interested in seeing foliage (hence starting from Northern most part); LOTS of beaches, pretty LITTLE towns, scenery and antiquing/flea markets/farmers markets and good SEAFOOD, covered bridges (we are not a really physical couple). We breed and raise horses, so any type of equine facility would be interesting, are interested in agriculture or family commercial fishing.
Since we are from the mountain area of Colorado we would like to drive through the Whites on our way to Lubec. Spend Saturday night (on the Northern side/Hwy 2?)in the mountains and continue a leisurely drive towards Lubec. Would like help with finding a small town that would allow us to drive up the kangamangus and other scenic drives, spending the majority of Sunday in the mountains and ending in Lubec. Thinking of one or 2 nights in Lubec, have googled this area but any input is appreciated! Driving on towards Acadia and a small cottage in that area, probably not specifically in Bar Harbor but in that general area, spending 3 nights. On to the York area, or if you have a better suggestion, please let me know, for 1 night as a part of getting back to Manchester for an EARLY morning flight on Saturday or Sunday.
Thanks so much for your help, We have planned many a fund adventure with help from TA!
