avoiding I-95 traffic going south

We need to travel from Dulles airport to Fayetteville, NC but don't want to drive on Friday, when we land. We'd like to stay somewhere close to Dulles that is scenic--but not the beach. Any ideas?

Seems you would be better posting in the Virginia forum, where Dulles airport is located, or the North Carolina forum, where Fayetteville is located. Maryland is in the opposite direction.

Good news is you are not near any beaches either
