Anniversary trip

I figured I'd post in this forum as the Rockport forum doesn't seem to be so active. I am planning an overnight trip to Rockport/Gloucester in mid October for my anniversary. I was wondering if this was a good choice at that time of year. We plan to go up on a Friday and stay until Saturday afternoon. Will there be enough to do or are a lot of places closing down for the winter? We'd like to shop, walk on the beach and site see. Anyone know of a good place to eat for dinner? We are staying at the Rockport Inn & Suites. I have it booked but I can change it if need be. Thanks

October is a very, very busy month for tourism in Massachusetts. I do not think for a minute that Rockport will be dead in mid-October. It might be a little less crowded than Salem, because people equate Salem with Halloween, but I think it will be pleasant. And that most business will be open, especially on the weekend. Same with Gloucester.

Thanks for the reply. We are going up on a Friday. I already made my reservations. I see they have a Harvest Festival on Saturday. I'm looking forward to it.
