Sleeping Bear trail groundbreaking

Exciting news for the Sleeping Bear area.

The official groundbreaking for the new Heritage Trail has occurred. This will be a non-motorized, paved trail, 27 miles long, along the Sleeping Bear lakeshore. Another way to see the north. Should be done next year.

The way I heard it was the first segment would be Glen Arbor to the Dune Climb. Sure wish they could stretch it all the way around the Glen Lakes, but there is too much private property I suppose.

Yea, looks like it's on all public lands. Here's a map of the trail and facts. Right now there isn't any kind of paved trail in that area for non-motorized vehicles, except for the road side. www.nps.gov/slbe/parkmgmt/loader.cfm…

That would be the Michigan Shore-to-Shore trail.
