Overnight from Chicago

Looking for a last-minute relaxing getaway from the city next week. Don't need to do anything besides stay somewhere nice and spend some time near water. Any suggestions?

browse these websites.... st joe and south haven are good for families, while saugatuck is nice for adults... however, saug isn't as beach-oriented as the other two....

Although Saugatuck isn't 'beach oriented', it is on the Kalamazoo River that empties into the big lake. It's a great town to spend a night or two for relaxing and just getting away if you can find a room.

Go to South Haven. Stay right in town so you can walk to the beach and all shops, restaurants. There are two hotels right in the center of town, Hotel Nichols or Old Harbor Inn. You can also stay in one of the many B&Bs but they can get expersive.
