Which area is for us?

Hi, we are coming up mid July from Indiana and I can't seem to narrow down a spot that works for all of us. We have two 21 yr olds in the group who like to boat, swim, and go out. I have a 19 month old who loves to swim and play at the beach, parks, zoos or anything outdoors. My husband likes to golf and we all lime casino and I like to shop. Ha, we do t want much do we? Ay suggestions would be so so much appreciated! I would like to stay within 6 hrs of Indy

I would say St. Joseph is perfect for the baby (great beach, carousel, children's museum), is close to golf and a casino, and has a nice little downtown for shopping. It is pretty good for the 21 year olds. Silver Beach always has plenty of young people and if they get bored you can look for boat/jet ski rentals--you're never far from some sort of boat rental along the coast--or do a day trip up to Grand Haven. That area probably the biggest concentration of young people hanging out at the beach. If it were nearer to a casino Grand Haven would be my recommendation to you.

If a casino is not a high priority, Grand Haven is perfect. The state park and city beach are huge and very popular with the younger crowd. Boat rentals are available and there's plenty of nightlife with outdoor decks.

South Haven has beautiful beaches and some really cool outdoor type bars as well, and it's a short drive to New Buffalo and the Four Winds Casino.

So many great choices in Michigan for the activities you and your family enjoy! I will pipe in recommending the Petoskey/Charlevoix/Boyne City area.

There is a casino in Petoskey that many enjoy. I have not visited but members of my family have.

Over the years I have posted about the wonders of Lake Charlevoix for young children, families, teens and foodie, dog loving adults. Here are the links that may be helpful to you as you plan!

I agree with momstravel. I think you can find something for everyone in the greater Petoskey/Boyne/Charlevoix area.

There is so much to do in West Michigan that you need to decide what you want to see/do and then make a central choice of a destination.

Plus you ddin't mention lodging preference. : )

There are close to 400 miles of coastline in West Michigan split in two by Ludington,MI

I think the south is more comercial versus the north's more natural settings.
