Trip ideas

I am planning a vacation for our 35th anniversary. I need to stay in the Mexico, United States, or Canada. Also, prefer an all inclusive. What are some of the favorites out there?

Traveling Grandma55,

To be honest, that's a big question. Lots of choices within those the region you identified. It will depend a lot on what you're interests are and what you might want to accomplish in a vacation. You'd need to give some sense of your interests. Activities, type of area (i.e. beach vs big city, vs. other aspects) would also be important. For example, I like San Antonio, New York, and spots in Florida, all for different reasons. Also, is US/Canada/Mexico absolutely a dealbreaker? If you're willing to entertain Mexico, would you entertain Central America or South America with an all-inclusive? Keep in mind most airports are only a few hour flight from Miami to Central America, and even Quito, Ecuador. I think if give more insight on your interests responders can give you more meaningful answers.

So MANY great options. 3 of my favorites:

From Minnesota, it's easy to get to a place like Mazatlan, Mexico, or Playa del Carmen or Cancun. If you like relaxing on a beach for your anniversary, AppleVacations and WorryFreeVacations usually have good charter flights to Mexico.

If you want to go the other direction, it's fun to cruise in Alaska. A lot of daylight, stunning scenery and a few good cruiselines to choose from (leave from Seattle or Vancouver or Anchorage).

Our how about getting on the train for a trip to Glacier National Park? There are beautiful lodges in the park.

For our 25th we did a cruise to Alaska from Seattle. All inclusive except for drinks and shore excursions. Post-cruise we rented a car and drove all over Alaska doing our own touring, on our own schedule...mostly staying at B&Bs.

The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan includes meals in its packages. http://www.grandhotel.com/index.html So depends on what "all inclusive" means to you.

There are some interesting cruises on the St. Lawrence River.

The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs has some packages that include dinner. Similarly the Salish Lodge adjacent to Snowqualmie Falls, near Seattle, has room & dining packages. http://www.salishlodge.com/index.php

Very romantic.

I think a cruise around the caribbean would be nice.

Flights to Florida can be affordable and usually cruises have good food! Plus, you get to go to different islands and check them out for future trips!

Good value!

Free entertainment every night too.

Good value if you ask me.

Check out

they always have good deals on there
