NW Miss. in Sept. Blues and travel ideas?

Staying in Clarksdale and maybe also Oxford or Greenwood for 3-4 days this fall, familiar with the basics- blues clubs, Cathead, BB King Museum, etc.. What else should we put on our "do not miss" list? How about the Viking factory? Is there a tour? Do they offer cooking classes?

Interested also in arts if there are places to recommend (theater, museums, etc.) ; do not wish to go to Memphis....(super, but been there).

i grew up a white boy in the early-mid sixties on James Brown/Otis Redding/Joe Tex stuff (Howard Theater, Washington D.C.) but am prepared to be converted to the Blues!

OK this GA girl grew up listening to some of the same people and we frequently travel to MS.

Some suggestions beside Clarksdale because you seem to know what to do there

Oxford- Ole Miss, historic square, great independent book store, Faulkner's home

Tupelo- Elvis boyhood home, church and museum

Greenwood- it is on our to do list this spring so can post again after we visit

Vicksburg- a great southern town with the Civil War military park (imo one of the best in the country- ranks right up there with Gettysburg), historic downtown area, good restaurants, old homes, MS river

I think you would really like Vicksburg. Further south is the town of Natchez with antebellum plantations, etc. but it is longer drive from Clarksdale.

Hope this info helps and if you have other questions please let us know.

Viking has cooking classes most Fri/Sat/Sun, but their Sept schedule isn't posted yet:
