Natchez Trace Parkway from Natchez to Nashville

We'd really like to take the Parkway all the way from Natchez to Nashville with a side trip into Memphis. We're taking a huge loop from the East Coast through northern FL to New Orleans to Memphis to Nashville and back to MD. We're from Maryland where it's green and lovely, so this type of scenery would not be new for us, as it might be to folks for Arizona, for example. We want to make sure we have enough time and we LOVE scenery. In planning a route, are there various sections of the Parkway that are don't-miss sections as opposed to others or is it worth using a few speed route alternates to the Parkway? Suggestions as to great places to stop along the way? Any help in planning this huge trip would be greatly appreciated!!

Have not driven the entire Trace. Have driven from Tupelo to near Jackson, MS. It is the rural south in many areas- see lots of soybeans and cotton. I would do a stop in Tupelo to see Elvis boyhood home and church and also a stop in Vicksburg. Vicksburg is on MS River, has a historic downtown, affordable nice hotels, and one of the best Civil war military parks. We love eating at Rusty's on the Riverfront.
