Montana holiday

We are planning a trip to Montana at the end of July and I was wondering what places not to miss. We will be in the area for 4 days.

Where, exactly, in Montana will you be heading? It's a big place. Let us know where you will be coming from and where you will be returning to,and it will be easier to give advice.

We will be coming down from Alberta and then heading across to North Dakota. We enjoy seeing historical things and can really go to any area before we move on.

For sure go to Glacier National Park. You can check the various Forum posts about Glacier and get a better idea of what it's like. You can easily spend 4 days there and still not see all of it. Of course, the distance from Glacier to North Dakota will take a day or two to drive.

i think it does depend on where you are planning to go in North Dakota. As previous poster mentioned, not only is MT a large state, but so is N.D. If your travels are taking you to northern N.D., then you probably won't want to go any farther south in MT than Glacier then head east. However, if your travels take you farther south in N.D, such as Medora, Bismarck, Fargo etc, then perhaps you'd like to head father south into MT after seeing Glacier, and visit, Missoula, Butte, Bozeman areas etc. I think it depends on what it is you like to do. Nature, you will get that in Glacier. Do you have children? Ages? History buffs? Butte. College towns, Missoula or Bozeman. You could even drop down into Yellowstone if you are heading into southern N.D. So it really depends on where you are heading and what you like to see. You don't want to spend more time driving needlessly. There are interesting things to see in N.D also, so you want to use your time wisely!
