Take off from Las Vegas Airport on an exhilarating helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon. You'll enjoy a 45-minute helicopter flight each way, land deep in the canyon for a champagne picnic, and fly low over the famous Las Vegas neon Strip on your return. This is a half-day tour, leaving you with time in the day free to explore Las Vegas and Nevada at your leisure. I dont know about the price.

Helicopters that depart from LV only go as far as grand canyon west. This is NOT the Grand Canyon that you are traveling half way around the world to see.

Do some research. Look for tours that take you to the South Rim aka Grand Canyon Nat'l Park. You'll need to drive or fly there in a fixed wing aircraft. You can then take a helicopter flight from the Grand Canyon airport at Tusayan

And surprisingly, you'll discover that the trips will cost less, even though they take you farther and require more time. Gcwest is much closer to LV, by about 150 miles. That's why they offer helicopter flights. But the environment and scenery, although pretty and scenic, just can't be compared.

Grand Canyon National Park South Rim and North Rim have the awesome scenery associated with Grand Canyon http://www.nps.gov/archive/grca/photos You won’t find that at an area that's been nicknamed Grand Canyon West, aka West Rim, which is heavily promoted in Las Vegas through helicopter and bus tours.

GC West, where skywalk is located, is not in the national park. The canyon is impressive there, but on a smaller scale than GCNP. It is also expensive to visit. Do your research if you're thinking about going there. The reviews on TA are mixed. tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g31306-d12…

A night in the national park is best. That will enable you to catch a sunset and sunrise and have plenty of time to visit the viewpoints. It's a five hour drive from LV to the South Rim or the North Rim over good highways. The entry fee is $25 per car, good for seven days. Note that the North Rim is closed mid-October to mid-May due to wintry conditions at the higher elevation. South Rim is open year-round. Visiting overnight by air tour from Las Vegas is also an option for the South Rim, but no air tours go to the North Rim of GCNP. Helicopter tours to a “north rim” are advertised in Las Vegas, but they go to an area in GC West.

Here's the lodging link for South Rim http://www.grandcanyonlodges.com and the North Rim foreverlodging.com/lodging.cfm… The NPS webpage for GCNP is http://www.nps.gov/grca In-park lodging is in heavy demand, so make reservations as soon as you know your dates. If nothing is available, try calling to check for cancellations that don’t always make appear on the websites. For information about lodging outside but nearby the park, follow the link to “Lodging” under “Plan Your Visit” on the NPS site.

If you can’t plan a night in or near the park into your itinerary, you can do what some people do and make a long day-trip by driving roundtrip, or if you don’t want to drive, tour companies operate day trips from Las Vegas to the South Rim via bus or van as well as fixed wing aircraft. Helicopters fly over a part of the canyon at GCNP, but no helicopter trips go directly from LV to GCNP. Aircraft cannot fly below the rim at GCNP, so helicopters don't descend to the canyon floor there.
