Stops between The Balsams and Mt Wash and best of Mt Wash...

We will be traveling from the Balsams to the Mt. Wash area and were wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what route to take and any stops to make on the way. Again, we love covered bridges, good food, waterfalls, hiking, and tress of all sorts. In addition, we will be spending 4 days in the Mt Wash area and were hoping to get some good advice on where to eat and what not to miss. Thanks for your guidance.

Doesn't look like alot of travel options. Basically, rt 16 all the way. Not that familiar with stops on the way. There are 2 covered bridges that I can think of immediately. 1 on River Rd by the Kanc just south of N. Conway and the other on 302 just past Glen on way to Attitash. But a quick g--gle will find lots more am sure. Glen Ellis Falls by Pinkham Notch is a very nice falls with an easy walk. Arathusa Falls is the tallest in NH with a more demanding hike for the view. Also Flume Gorge and Lost River Gorge have some worthwhile sights although you have to pay for them. Can't even start to tell you where to hike as there are so many at all different lengths and degrees of difficulty. But if you have the right weather and stamina, Mt Washington is worth the sweat. The trail from Pinkham Notch up thru Tuckerman's is well used so as not to get lost. Look thru past posts as there are so many great one's with lists of things to do. Also, send away for the visitors package from visitnh.gov which has lots of great info. Dining is available from fine dining to brew pubs. There are a couple of excellent restaurants in Jackson like Wildcat Tavern, or Red Parka Pub in Glen.
