Short New England Escorted Tours

We would like to visit New Hampshire or Vermont around 12th October this year and will be without a car. Does anyone know of any 4-6 day bus or rail tours that do the fall foliage in these areas. All we seem to be able to find is either one day tours or 8 day tours. We will be coming in from LAX so it doesn't matter where we fly into (Boston, New York, Manchester??).

Its always tricky to find one of those small tours in New England. Most of the North East tours try to cover the entire New England region and it usually takes a week. Did you check out the similar thread asked by a user from Brisbane?? - tripadvisor.com/…47970574

Flying into Manchester and renting a car would be your best bet. Having a car will give you more flexibility in travel choices around New England.

I like trains so I'm always intrigued when someone mentions touring by rail. In looking for Amtrak fall foliage tour packages (that I'm certain I've seen before!), I didn't find much, but did find this undated USA Today article that mentions putting together a Vermont tour on Amtrak.

…usatoday.com/train-tours-vermont-10505.html

You'd see the foliage from the train, in the small towns where you'd stop, and perhaps could take one or more short trips on one of the Vermont scenic train lines (also mentioned in the above article). You'd see more, of course, if you were to rent a car, even for a day or two.

Would you consider an inn-to-inn walking or bicycle tour?
