Looking for great places to eat, see, play NH & MA

Anyone have any good suggestions for great places to eat, stay and see traveling from Portsmouth to Boston for Memorial weekend? We LOVE to eat and do fun things out at night so any suggestions would be welcomed! We will be spending Memorial day in Boston so any suggestions there would be great too!

They're kind of out of the way, but Rockport and Gloucester on Cape Ann are gorgeous little seaside towns. Bearskin Neck in Rockport is the main drag, if you will, packed with shops and restaurants. Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester is gorgeous if you want to get some beach time in. Lots of cute B&Bs and inns in Rockport.

Closer to 95, there's Salem, MA, which is lovely and historic. Great downtown pedestrian shopping/going out/eating area. The House of the Seven Gables is right on the water and nice to check out. There's also the Peabody Essex Museum, which is maritime themed, and if you're going with kids the Salem Willows has arcades right on the ocean. And then you have all of the witch trial stuff--Witch Museum, Witch House, lots of witch-themed shops and stuff. It's fun! Lots of hotels and B&Bs there too.

Just a couple of suggestions!

The trip is just over an hour. But driving along NH coastline is beautiful crossing into MA. Rockport is also great suggestion but not a direct line south. Lobster roll at beach plum.
