Beaches in New Hampshire and Maine

Hi Everyone,

I just moved to Dover, NH couple of weeks back. I have my anniversary coming up, so I was thinking to visit the Hampton beach or the Ogunquit beach in Maine. Could you please let me know which one is better (or is there any better beach than the two)? And do you know good restaurants there and if possible it would be great if you share the parking information as well.

Thank you!

Hampton Beach has more fun stores, like fried dough and t-shirts. Ogunquit's shops are higher end, but not right at the beach. I think Hampton has a nicer actual beach (sand and surf) and better people watching. Ogunquit has the Marginal Walkway, which is a fantastic place to take a romantic stroll. I wouldn't call one beach nicer than the other... it's more about what you're looking for.

Hampton has tons of metered parking along the beach. Ogunquit's parking is a bit tougher. As for restaurants, I think Ogunquit has a lot more option for nice places.

Hampton is the most popular of the 2 although I like Old Orchard Beach. Little Jacks is at Hampton but I have not eaten there for awhile, it was good last time I went.

Hampton is a young hangout...arcades, but does have the Casino Ballroom, which books top name acts.

Ogunquit is more quiet, better beach, B&B's, better eats....FYI, and is also a big gay destination.
