Trip to New York from Chicago

3 guys going on a baseball trip to New York in June. We have 5 days in New York going to night Yankee and Mets game. We are staying in Long Island/Queens La Qunita, wanted to know what are the best ways to get to the games at night and what are some definate sights to see while we are out there. We want to hit up some bars, attractions, maybe some history etc. Any help?

First do you mean Long Island City/Queens La Quinta. You can check the subway map but you should be near the R or other trains that connect to the 7 train which takes you to Shea Stadium. The R train also stops in Manhattan at 59th Street where you can connect to the 4 train which goes to 161th Street for Yankee Stadium.

As far as attractions, it sounds like you are limited to those during the day if you are going to all night games. Here are some ideas.

American Musuem of Moving Image in Astoria should be close to your hotel.

Paley Center (formerly the Musuem of Television and Radio) and you can see my review

Fitting in a Broadway play during the day may be tight but always fun. Comedy clubs are great but again they are tough to fit in because they are at night during the game. The Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village may have very late shows and it is a great comedy club but probably to much to fit in. Greenwich Village is fun to walk around in and Brooklyn Heights with nice views of Manhattan and popular Grimaldi's is nice.

Bronx Zoo or Central Park Zoo

Empire State Building

One thing you can do is take the A train to 190th Street, walk through Fort Tryon Park and go to the Cloisters Museum which is part of the Metropolitan Musuem of Art and has nice midieval architecture. Then take the A train to 145th Street and the D train to 161st Street to go to Yankee Stadium.

www.menupages.com can give you ideas on restaurants.

TimeOut New York Magazine can give you ideas on things going on when you are in NYC to.

Have a nice trip and hope this helps.
