Newark to Manhattan

We are contemplating a flight from Orlando to UK with a 7 hour stop in Newark. Would we have enough time to make it to Times Square for a wander and back to the airport?

Can you check your bags through to your destination?

And how long in advance do you need to arrive for your international flight? Even if you're fully checked in in Orlando I'll guess you need about two hours.

So, if you have seven hours all told, you'll need some time to get off the plane, then give yourself an hour to get into Manhattan and an hour back. That takes four of your seven hours if your flight is on time.

You have the advantage of rail transportation so you don't have to worry about the uncertainties of traffic. Buy a round trip ticket to New York Penn Station. At Newark, the AirTrain fare is built into the New Jersey Transit train fare.

Check the current timetables before you leave home to be clear on which trains you need to get. Remember that the timetable gives times from the rail station, so you need to add ~15 minutes for the AirTrain.
