We are a family of 4. 50 something Mom and Dad, college age daughter and 12 yr. old.
Arriving JFK around 11:00 am on Jet Blue July 16th. Using public transportation to get to our hotel in Mid-town (The TRYP).
It is our first real visit so we will be doing some of the usual tourist things. We like going at a simple pace so don't plan to cram everything into our 6 days (5 nights).
1) go to a Mets-Phillies game
2) see an evening performance on Broadway
3) visit Statue of Liberty (have Crown tickets already)
4) visit the Met. Museum of Art
5) visit Museum of Natural History/Central Park
6) Top of the Rock as well
7) Brooklyn Bridge
This gives us a list of a major destination daily and the hope of plenty time to see and do other things along the way.
My question is...
Upon arrival on day 1, what would be a nice leisurely itinerary for the afternoon/evening after checking into the hotel that would help us get oriented a bit and not overwhelm a somewhat tired family of 4?
Nearby lunch destination? People watching in Times-Square? Walk the High Line?
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
