Repost to Albany or Saratoga region - you may get more responses. BUT include more info...your interests, your budget, etc. Early October is too early in the Albany region to see Fall Foliage, but if you go up towards Lake Placid you may get some of the early Fall colors. Saratoga is a nice area - lots of shops and restaurants. Albany - not too much to see here - Empire State Plaza is nice to visit - the downtown area has seen better days. If you are into nature, hiking etc. Thatcher Park would be nice to visit. I-87 is the highway to take if you want to get where you are going - Route 9 would be more scenic the farther north you go.
We do not plan to spend time in Albany. We want to see scenic areas and find nice eating places. One person in our party cannot walk great distances, thus we are seeking a casual drive activity with any special stop-for-a-view areas.
