Lay Over JFK Dec. 21

We arrive at JFK from Buffalo at 7:00 a.m. and want to be back at 3:00 for a 5:30 international flight. The weather looks like it might not be too cold (we don't want to take winter coats). We are thinking of going "somewhere" to have lunch and just stroll...maybe looking at the decorations. Having been in NYC at Thanksgiving a few years ago we found the crowds really crazy. Will it be similar this weekend? I have reviewed others posts and we will store our luggage and are happy to take train/subways. Thanks!

This weekend will be busy, but that shouldn't stop you. I would go straight up to the south end of Central Park and walk down Fifth Ave to see the windows and decorations. Past Bergdorf, Bendel's, Saks etc. You will see the Rockefeller Center tree, then keep heading south to Lord and Taylor. Head across to Macy's and their windows. That will leave you right by Penn Station, where you can get the train back to JFK.

You can easily do that walk in 2 hours without too many stops to browse in stores. Plenty of time including a stop for lunch.
