Hotel tax

We are visiting New York in May for first time and meeting up with friends from overseas,we are staying at the Ramada hotel in Long Island City was told by a friend we will have to pay a hotel tax on top of our bill is this true and how much will it be thanks.

Hotel taxes and fees will add approximately ~15% to advertised hotel rates.
