NYC hotels - tips for avoiding paying an arm and a leg

Hi,

I'm planning on visiting NYC with my wife, but after checking hotel prices I am considering giving it a miss. Can anyone please advise on tips for getting a decent hotel for 130 USD per night or less with good access to the centre of the city?

Thanks

First, post on the New York City forum instead of the this forum for New York state which gets very little traffic.

Next, provide the exact dates of your visit. And, unfortunately, realize that $130 is a VERY small budget for a New York hotel during about 90% of the year...

Totally depends on dates. Very possible in Jan/Feb. not so much the rest if the year, unless you stay outside Manhattan.
