JFK to Jersey City - Taxi Fare

Visiting NYC on July 7th with 4 adults in the group. Flying into JFK, booked hotel in Jersey City on the Hudson river.

Need help with deciding the mode of transport from airport to hotel, these are the options I can think of - any additions are welcome

1. What will the taxi ride cost? I searched thru older posts on forum - "fare is negotiated" but can't get a dollar range for 4 adults with luggage.

2. Public transport is an option but the time it takes is long

3. Taking a rental Mini-van at airport and dropping off at a location close to hotel

4. Book a car service. I like Dial7.com and it's frequently recommended on the forum. Carmel Limo is another one that is often mentioned favorably.

NYC cabbies are not obligated to take you to Jersey City. They can refuse the request or name their own price. A lot of factors may come into play about whether you'll find a taxi driver willing to take you and how much they will charge.

You can't find a dollar range because ther isn't one, it's whatever you and the driver agree to. That's what "fare is negotiated" means. That's why we don't recommend it. Take a car service if you don't want to take the train. (The train is easy, though.)

Depending on time of day, day of the week, and the exact location of your Jersey City hotel, taking the train may well be faster. Any form of driving requires taking a bridge or tunnel into Manhattan, driving across Manhattan, and then taking a tunnel to New Jersey. Any or all of these can have delays.
