Charleston then several days traveling Blue Ridge Parkway

We (2 of us) are coming to visit Sou Charleston in mid May 2013. After 3 or 4 days in the Charleston area, we'd like to drive to N. Carolina and experience at least some of the Blue Ridge Parkway, staying along the way at nice ($200+ per night) but quaint and older places. I'd love any suggestions for places to stay or paths to take. I suspect we'll not drive back to Charleston to depart, so will get ourselves to an airport after 3 or so days on the parkway. I've been on the Blue Ridge parkway (30 years ago) and want to show my friend the beauty of this area. Will drive from Charleston.

I'd drive up from Charleston and start the parkway around Waynesville/Maggie Valley area of NC then work my way up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Blowing Rock, NC area over 3-4 days. After Blowing Rock drive down the mountain to Charlotte (1.5 hour drive from Blowing Rock) and fly out of Charlotte-Douglas Airport.

There are some beautiful, quaint accommodations in the Waynesville/Maggie Valley area, I don't have any first-hand recommendations as I stay with my parents when in that area. Here's TA's reviews... http://tinyurl.com/8bhj7zl

Then a day in Asheville checking out the Biltmore Estate http://www.biltmore.com/ and downtown, staying at the beautiful, old, Grove Park Inn http://www.groveparkinn.com/

Moving a bit north, a stop in Little Switzerland and stay at quaint Little Switzerland Inn; https://switzerlandinn.com/

End your BRP trip in Blowing Rock, there are a number of nice, quaint accommodations in that area. I think Chetola Resort offers a good mixture of very nice, quaint & older. http://www.chetola.com/index.html
