SE corner of Oregon camping/hiking

My boyfriend and I plan on staying in the SE part of Oregon and need help finding places to see..we will be camping the whole time and hiking/kayaking. Are there any good rivers or forests you all recommend? Any other ideas around that area would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, AHale,

Your question is pretty vague to answer. Do you have an area other than "SE" in mind? There are just a few cities east of Medford or Ashland or Klamath Falls.

If you could give us a a city near where you would like to go it would make it easier.

One of the attractions of SE Oregon is also the reason so few people actually experience it...there are no real "cities" there. It's an area where you can really GET AWAY. But, of course, whether it's camping, hiking or just driving, visitors (and their vehicles) are well advised to be prepared for the ruggedness and remoteness of much of the region.

I hope the information that can be mined from the above websites will be helpful.

You won't forests in SE Oregon.

If you want to "really get away," go here:

If you just want to "get away," go to the Steens Mountain area. There are several Steens Mountain threads. Use the search function at the top.

Oregonians probably know this, but in case someone from out of state is planning a visit to the area:
