Does anyone know the highest elevation on highway 20 between Newport and Corvallis?
Here's one mile by mile guide. On this, it shows the highest elevation at its key points is 745 ft., but I think there may be a point between those noted that reaches the 800 ft. mark.
Curious why you are asking. Hwy 20 does have a couple of climbs, but nothing serious. Hwy 18 you hardly notice the climb though also about 750'.
US 26 to Seaside and OR 6 to Tillamook do get higher well over 1000'
Winter I prefer 18.Edited: 15 July 2012, 01:41
Why? what? 18 over 20 in winter??Edited: 15 July 2012, 02:12
Sorry phirl, I meant "why" to the OP!
It's kind of a curious question . . .
I lived in the Midwest for most of the first 22 years of my life. To folks east of the rockies, anything over 500 feet is a "mountain" LOL
My grandmother married an Iowa farmer about time I was born, so we spent 6 or 7 summers in Iowa, and it was interesting to hear those Iowans talk about the terrible mountains in Oregon.Edited: 15 July 2012, 22:17
I was stationed for a year at Selfridge AFB in Mt. Clemens, MI.
I spent the entire time looking for the mountain. Never found one.
Dudlee Hill which is West of Burnt Woods is 900Ft per the sign at the summit.
