Best casino?

If you had one night to spend at a Casino in Oregon, where would you go? Spirit Mountain Lodge looks nice and the location seems to fit our plans. Is there somewhere near there that is better?

We were just at Spirit Mountain today (24th) for lunch. The hotel is modern, quite similar to any Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Suites. The back side used to look out over fields, but they've built another building so now you look out at . . . the other building! Their buffet is probably the best in Oregon.

Chinook Winds casino is at the beach, right on the beach in Lincoln City.

7 Feathers is at Canyonville in a pleasant location. I think the hotel part has some views; we've always stayed in their top-notch RV park considered one of the best in the entire USA.

You're flying into Seattle, aren't you? I know there are some Washington casinos so you might want to ask on that forum.

We like 7 Feathers in Canyonville! Pretty rooms, a great indoor pool and nice spa on-site. :)

If your choice were based on location and/or accommodations, I'd suggest Chinook Winds, on the beach in Lincoln City, or the one at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort, southeast of Mt. Hood. But the only one "near" Spirit Mountain is Spirit Mountain.

Thanks for the tips...ended up getting one night at the Chinook Winds with an Ocean Front Jr. Suite. Should be a nice evening. Unfortunately Saturday was booked solid...so we'll still need to find somewhere to stay near central Oregon...around Sweet Home/Salem area for that Saturday. Price wasn't bad at all either at Chinook. I wonder if the buffet is decent.

Decent, yes. Wonderful, no. It's not terrible. I call it solidly average!

If you are a "foodie" type, just skip it. If you aren't real fussy you'll be fine. Do utilize the "cook to order" station as that is the best part of the whole buffet and is quite good. Here are the reviews:

I'm thinking we might just use is purely as a place to sleep and be on the ocean front...Spirit Mountain Lodge looks like a better casino by the reviews online. So maybe spend the day at Spirit Mountain and then head over to Chinook basically just to be at the beach.

The buffet at Spirit Mountain is *much* better than the one at Chinook Winds!

If you're overnighting at Chinook winds, don't bother eating on-site. Have dinner at Blackfish Café, about a mile south on Highway 101. The next morning, head east on 18 (about 30 minutes) and have breakfast at Spirit Mountain's buffet.
