What to do near Skippack?

We are visiting relatives over Memorial weekend outside of Skippack, PA but would like to take a morning and do something on our own. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are we close enough to Philly to do anything there?

Thank you!

PS - we are staying at the Courtyard by the Montgomery mall

Philadelphia is about one hour from your hotel and also from Skippack. Go north on route 309 from your hotel to the Colmar train station. It is just a couple miles north of your hotel. You can park there cheaply and pick up the R5 train into center city.

If you enjoy the outdoors, Skippack has some nice hiking trails nearby. You might enjoy Evansburg Park or Central Perkiomen Trail. Close to the trail, near Skippack, is Ott's Greenhouse which people visit from miles around. Also in nearby Schwenksville, find the historic Pennypacker Mansion, which was build by one of Pennsylvania's earlier governors. A beautiful, old farm, it is furnished with antiques from a century or more ago.

Skippack has some enjoyable shops and botiques, and a mix of trendy restaurants/bars.

One of the largest shopping areas in the country can be found at King of Prussia, PA. It is an easy drive of 30 minutes from your hotel. Of course, you're also close to Valley Forge National Park when you visit King of Prussia. You could combine a morning at the K of P Mall with an afternoon walking (or driving) thru Valley Forge Park.

Great dining can be found at the venerable William Penn Inn, located about two miles from your hotel (south on 202). Food presentation is wonderful and service is flawless; albeit a trifle pricey.

Hope this is helpful!

You are also about a 15 minute drive to Doylestown and a little farther to New Hope. Small quaint towns with good restaurants, arts and shoppiing
