Looking for a beautiful small town ,any suggestions?

We always try to find beautiful small towns whenever we visit a new state, can you suggest any hidden gems in the south west of the state. We will be travelling through Pennsylvania from Front Royal Virginia on route to Millersburg Ohio in August.Looking forward to hearing what your favourites towns are.Dont forget to mention any great hotels or restaurants too .

You have some lovely choices, depending on how far our of your way you wish to travel and how good you are with mountains. I'm assuming that you're going to go up to the PA Turnpike instead of going across I-68 through Maryland.

The Lincoln Highway, Rt 30, travels the same west-east route as the turnpike, with some exceptions. They have created a Heritage corridor to help tourists find the small towns that were left behind by the larger interstates. Here is the link: http://www.lhhc.org/

Here are some of the towns that I have enjoyed visiting. Bedford is a larger town, but we enjoyed walking around, and had a good lunch at the Jean Bonnet Tavern (somewhat out of town). The Bedford Springs Inn has been recently renovated...it's gorgeous, but a little beyond our means.

Everett, a smaller town, has the classic American small-town feel.

Further west, the town of Ligonier was one of our favorites to visit. Little shops, tree-lined streets, a museum, and mountains...it was lovely.

Rt 30 between Bedford and Ligonier is a little more rugged, though, with some steep grades.

I'm sure that others have other favorites! Good luck in your search!
