Interesting route / stops Lancaster, PA -> Finger Lakes

We will be driving from Lancaster, PA to the Finger Lakes in one day. Any specific thoughts on a scenic byway to take? Are any stops recommended along this route?

Very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

From Lancaster to Seneca Falls in the Finger Lakes area is about 5 hours. As for scenic routes - it depends on what you call scenic. One route I am familiar with is:

from Lancater take 283 toward Harrisburg.

Pick up US 322 west around Harrisburg.

After crossing the Susquehanna River north of Harrisburg, pick up US 15 north to Corning, NY. It's a bit under 4 hours to Corning.

From there it depends on where you are going in the Finger Lakes area.

As for scenery - on 322 and 15 you will be following the Susquehanna River. It will be visible most of the way. On US 15 north of Williamsport, PA, there is nothing but forest and hill country. Between Williamsport and Corning there is virtually no place to stop. It is a vast area of nothingness but trees and mountains driving through the appalachain mountains.

In Corning you can visit the Corning Glass Works and Museum.

If you want to detour off route 15 in northern PA, you could visit the scenic town of Wellsboro and the PA Grand Canyon.
