Secluded camping?

Our family of 3 is looking for secluded tent camping in April or May, preferably near a river or lake for fishing, w/ boat or canoe rentals available, & campfires permitted. Primitive sites are preferred, but not required. I tried looking on tourism sites & other online searches but was overwhelmed & we would love personal recommendations. Thanks for your help!

There are many nice "secluded" camping options in the Allegheny National Forrest around rivers and creeks. But in April and May, sometimes the water levels are very high and it is not safe to canoe. There are several places to rent on the Allegheny River, but I think for most of them, they haul you upriver and you canoe or kayak downriver for how ever many miles. THere are a couple dammed areas you may be able to canoe and fish, either on the Allegheny River just east of Warren, PA, or on the Tionesta Creek Lake in Tionesta, PA.

If you would rather do the camping and fishing, then maybe do a 4 hour canoe just for fun (not fishing), I would suggest Minister Creek for camping. There is a small primitive campground with an outhouse near the road, or you may backpack in as far as you like to camp. It is a beautiful area for hiking, and the campground is just a short hike from the Tionesta Creek where you could fish.
