Charlotte to Charleston

We are flying into Charlotte and driving to Charleston SC during Thanksgiving week. We have a two-year old and a four-year old. We have a few days to make the trip and we would like to explore the best of the area. We don’t mind going a bit out of the way to find a “must-see” spot. We were considering going along the coast. We love seafood and any other favorite local specialty that can’t be missed. Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

It only takes 3 hrs. to get from Charlotte to Charleston, just do it and get it over with, there's not much in between. You have to get to Charleston to get to the coast, there is no coast between Charlotte and Charleston.

Enjoy your time in the Charleston area and at our beautiful beaches. Plenty to do here to keep you and your little ones busy.

Like the poster above has mentioned the drive from Charlotte to Charleston is not long, and one of the easiest routes to the coastal region.

The only thing I would suggest (keeping the age of your children in mind) would be to make a stop in Columbia, SC for the following:

Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens (this is a perfect size zoo for your children)

If you are not in a hurry, detour to Bishopville SC and visit Pearl Fryar's garden:

I would second the stop for Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia. Very kid friendly. I would however suggest you get to the coast. If you have more than 3 days in Charleston, consider spending a day in Beaufort, a smaller historic community down the coast from Charleston. Info on a day trip below:
