Lead or Deadwood for a base?

I am looking to travel to the badlands for the first time and would appreciate input from those familiar with Lead and Deadwood. Will be stayimg 10 days to tour the area on motorbike. Which town would u stay in to enjoy the culture of the area and have some fun at night after spending a day on the bike. Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Ride safe.

If you want nightlife, that would be found in Deadwood or Rapid City, as long as it doesn't bother you that you will be traveling a ways during the day to see other attractions (Deadwood is not centrally located). You can also check out the Top Question link "How do I select a base" in the upper right hand corner. I am not sending you to the link in order to blow off your question, however, so please continue to feel free to ask questions on here.

Location wise, NEITHER has an "advantage" over the other, as they are virtually one town. There is maybe 3-4 miles, if that, between the two city's outer edges. Deadwood, with a variety of casinos and bars would be more appealing to those seeking nightlife, as Lead only has a couple of small lounges.
