Rodeo

Hi,

i know i'm very early to be asking this but i like to plan ahead and id be really grateful of any help you can offer. I will be in Texas for a couple of days in May next year (2013) and would really like to attend a rodeo if possible. Please can you tell me if there are any around this time? I will be in Houston and San Antonio. Maybe Austin too so around these areas would be great if there is one. Last year we travelled around a little bit too but on the day we were meant to watch the rodeo just outside Yosemite i was ill - very mad at myself! I've tried google but i'm not having much luck. I've been searching for 2012 to see if there is a yearly one but again can't see anything. If you can offer any help what so ever i would be grateful. Thank you very much in advance for your help,

Angela

the official seasonal\sanctioned rodeos are around this time (FEB/MARCH)for ex in San Antonio, Austin, Houston etc... in general, you should be able to find other local rodeos at that time.

...

north of SA is TejasRodeo.com which is a combination of live music, rodeo, BBQ, etc. , very family oriented. http://www.tejasrodeo.com/

...

One of favorite things in SA and you may also be interested in is the San Antonio Charreada, the original rodeo of Mexico..a little more primitive, some colorful pagentry involved...I notice two events on their calendar for May 2012. http://www.sacharro.com/page2

...

near San Antonio is a place called Kickers Korner...Von Ormy Texas...quite amusing, a smaller rodeo event and you would think you were in a po dunk area but you can see the skyline of SA from the bleachers. Last I knew, events were on WED and Sundays

...........

a good bet is Bandera Texas at the end of May...

..........

a good source closer to your visit is texashighways.com

events by region

.......

last resort is Cowboys Dancehall in SA..they have live indoor bull riding..price is admission to the club

As you get closer to your date, click on the link below. These are smaller rodeos (not like Houston or SA type productions), sometimes connected to a local fair. But you won't see harder working people than these guys and gals.

Great post tejashombre, you never cease to amaze me!!! If/when you get back to SA we need to get together for a beer or the beverage of your choice so I can pick your knowledge-filled brain.

Do you ever make it south to Corpus Christi?
