A good place to stop between Dallas and Houston

My wife and I are driving between Dallas and Houston on a Friday at the start of March and want somewhere to break the journey for 2 hours or so. We're just looking for somewhere nice to stretch our legs and have lunch. Can anyone recommend anywhere - either a scenic town, or a great state park or similar? We can take a small detour if necessary but don't want to go too far out of our way. Thanks

Not alot of places to stop and the distance is only about a 4 hour drive between the 2 cities.

I would recommend Corsicana, but close to Dallas. Stop at the Collin Street Bakery.

Or, in Huntsville, closer to Houston.

Welcome to Texas!

Huntsville State Park is just south of Huntsville, west of I-45, very pretty and relaxing place.

you could stop at old town Spring but is close to Houston. Lots of shops.

I like eating at Wunsche brothers cafe.
