Trip suggestions needed

I would like to take a trip starting in Salt Lake City and see Salt Lake City attractions. I have been to Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Moab, Utah but have not yet been to Capitol Reef National Park.

For a 6 night trip within the region of Salt Lake City and Capitol Reef, can you suggest other areas that have scenic beauty or great experiences that we can also do to fill in our time.

Thanks in advance.

When are you coming? If it is in the summer you could easily enjoy the mountains, Little and Big Cottonwood. You could drive up to the Uintas near Mirror Lake and further north by Christmas Meadow.

You could head over to Vernal to see the new visitor center at Dinosaur National monument and then enjoy Flaming Gorge scenic byway.

The Alpine loop between American Fork and Sundance, or the backroads between Park City and Heber would fit in well with at trip further south

Maybe on the way to Capitol Reef you could take the time to enjoy hwy 89 http://www.utahheritage.com/

Good suggestions around Salt Lake City region from Kbecjeans. If you do go down to Capitol Reef include in Goblin Valley, Little Wild Horse Canyon and San Rafael Swell. That region is quite different from what you've seen so far.

While in the Salt Lake City area, spend a night up here in our mountain resort village of Park City - a great base for daytrips to Sundance/Alpine Loop and out to the Uintahs on the Mirror Lake Highway.

I will assume that you are returning to SLC , so you can possibly do hwy 12 off of 24 at Torrey, and return over to Parowan via hwy 143.Popular stops are Burr trail, Calf Creek Falls, Escalante Petrified, and Kodachrome Basin. If you have your own high clearance vehicle, there are some more sights in BLM land including Hells Backbone bridge, Posey lake, possibly Hole in the Rock road or Grosvenor Arch on Cottonwood road. This list just scratches the surface for ideas in this area. Makes a good loop with what Kbec and T&C said.
