Quickest route would be to stay on 191South to Bluff which at that point the Hwy turns into 163S. It is approx an hour and a 1/2 from Blanding to Monument Valley.

Hi

Thank you. Is another route more scenic?

Well, the other route will take you out 95 to near Natural Bridges, (that needs about 2 hrs). Then south on 261, down the Moki Dugway. This is not for everyone as you wind your way down a 1500 ft cliff in 3 miles. Up until then there is not much scenic about the road, but there are some great views up at the top.

Goosenecks SP is near the junction with 163 and whichever route you take you should make the detour out to see it.

It really is a toss up which one is better. Going down 191 you will go through Bluff, you could stop at the Twin Rocks trading post, the old fort, see the pueblo up near the cemetery. Either way is fine. If you don't like scary twisty, winding roads then definitely take 191 south.

We almost always thake the route via Moki Dugway but it's not a walk in the park. 3 miles unpaved but the switchbacks are paved. The famous photospot from Forrest Gump is at milemarker 13 off us163. That spot is south of Mexican hat. Mexican Hat rock also makes a nice photo. You can drive to its foot on a good dirtroad and see how big that rock really.

If you are considering the Moki Dugway, go to YouTube and search for some videos of that drive--there are several out there--so you know what to expect. And do take the advice to stop at Goosenecks State Park since you will be in the neighborhood, so to speak.
