Booking ahead in Aug/Sept?

Hi, we will be travelling through Vermont during the week oof Aug 29 - Sept 4 2008, and were planning to book accommodation as we travel through, but we have just realised that Sept 1st is a bank holiday. Coming from South Africa, we have no idea how this would affect available accommodation in that area. Should we rather book in advance, or will we be able to readily find accomm. in that time? Thanks for your help!

If you want to be in a particular town or Inn/hotel then long as you have the Saturday night booked you should be okay with the other days. If you are flexible as to where you stay then there should be availability - while it is a holiday weekend it doesn't tend to be the busiest (unlike Columbus weekend in october when some people have to sleep in their cars as there are no rooms available in the State!)

Agreed. Some of the nicest (and many smaller) places may be tight, but there will surely be hotels & B&Bs with room during that time. Enjoy!
