Maple Syrup and Cheddar Cheese

If we were taking a culinary sort of tour seeking to visit a Maple Syrup farm and a cheddar cheese farm/store/area where would we go and is T'giving a good time to visit?

Thanksgiving Day itself? Not likely a good idea, that's a holiday here that won't find much open for business.

You won't see much at a farm that specializes in maple syrup in November, since the actual sugaring operations occur in February thru April.

Here's a few suggestions for you:

http://www.robbfamilyfarm.com/

http://www.graftonvillagecheese.com/ (they actually make cheese here)

http://www.sugarbushfarm.com/ (they don't make the cheese here, but it's still a nice place to visit for great products and their own maple syrup)

We just left Sugarbush a couple of hours ago. Not high-tech, but the friendliness and personal attention was top-notch! Pay close attention to the map when going there; I had to turn around several times and I am good with directions.

We also went to the Cabot store in Quechee. They had enough samples out to make it a dinner!

There's a nice tourist outlet on Rt. 100 about 5 miles north of I-89, between Waterbury and Stowe where you can sample 10-15 Cabot cheeses and buy all kinds of food stuff. There's also a Lake Champlain Chocolates outlet adjacent to it for a high end chocolate fix too. :)

Maple syrup can be bought everywhere. To see it made, I'd google 'maple sugar house' plus the town where you'll be. There are lots of places that will do tours near most cities. Enjoy!

And right near that outlet in Stowe, rt 100, you can get your cider donuts fix just up the road. Try one of those maple cremee soft ice cream cones while you are at some of those maple houses. Obviously they were great during the summer months.
