Smuggler's Notch - Drop Yor Jaw Sites

I have read not to miss Smuggler's Notch and would like recommendations of scenic drives, beautiful overlooks, nice waterfalls, or in other words "drop your jaw gorgeous sites." We can hike no more than 3 miles round trip.

I don't guess a national park pass would cover the fee.

Possibly worthy of National Park status, but I believe this is privately owned.

No, the park pass won't cover. The toll road is the best & cheapest entertainment though for exactly what you mentioned - spectacular views and some of the states most scenic hiking on many trails at the top.

Other than that, driving through smugglers notch is beautiful. There are a couple of small roadside cascades - no huge awesome waterfalls, but lots of pretty views of the cliffs.

The Stowe rec path has some superb views too. It can be a bit busy on nice weekends, but it's a gem - as is the Burlington rec path along Lake Champlain. Lastly, another of the most interesting and scenic paths is the Colchester causeway - 2.5 miles of rec path out into Lake Champlain, with views of the Green Mtns. and Adirondaks.
