What City To Fly Into?

We are thinking of visiting VT late September/early October for 4 nights, and we have no idea what city to fly into. We would be coming from Atlanta. Any suggestions?

What cozy town is recommended from there? We enjoy hiking, shopping, and eating good food. And, we'd like to stay in a lodge or inn. Any recommendation and direction to get us started in our planning is much appreciated. Thank you!

We did a fall trip last October and toured the area around Stowe Vt, the White Mts. of NH and down the coast of Maine from Bar Harbor to Ogunquit. The area around Woodstock VT is also nice. We flew into Manchester NH on Southwest airlines out of Birmingham because we got roundtrip airfare for 200 dollars and car rental for l65 dollars a week. Enjoy your trip planning and make reservations ASAP. Fall is a very busy time in New England. The DE's are great and will give you excellent info.

Morning WK Cabbie,

Boston Logan, Manchester New Hampshire or Burlington VT are all the closest airports. However some folks drive up also from Bradley, any of the 3 New York airports and Albany....so you have many choices. Manchester NH and Burlington VT are the handiest but Boston Logan may well offer you the best prices.

Do check out Woodstock VT (www.woodstockvt.com) the village website as our location is a 'must see' on any trip. The village can provide all you seek with a National Park you can walk to from the village centre, museums, a wonderful selection of award winning inns and restaurants and enough shopping to abuse your credit card on!

Which airport you choose will depend on where you stay in Vermont. In the north eastern part of the state Burlington VT is the airport. Southern and eastern part of the state you want Albany NY. Western part of Vermont Manchester NH.

For the September early October time if this is a normal year you should be coming about prime time. [Please make your reservations early] Vermont is a small state and you can cover a lot of it with few circular drives. Check out this web site from Yankee Magazine http://www.yankeefoliage.com/drives/vermont for an idea about a drive around Vermont that will give you great foliage viewing. It should give you some good ideas.

vermontvacations is NOT the state sponsored website.
