Good afternoon GlacierV
The Tropical storm did cause some cancellations at the inn I co-own in Woodstock, but most rooms have been re-booked. The period you are tavelling is quieter so you should find some choice but obviously the best rooms go first. At our inn we have about one third of the rooms reserved at this time for that period. Last year we ended up being 95% full for the same period...so my advice is to book.
Irene's damage should be no impact to vistors at that time. Waterbury, Kiliington, and other areas had significant damage, but are mostly back on line now.
The Burlington area was unscathed and should have some open accommodations then - esp. at the 2 larger hotels downtown. Should be very pretty, judging by the late color change here so far. Enjoy.Edited: 03 October 2011, 23:41
Thank you for all your replies. Will look into the bookings. Looking forward to visit Vermont for the fall and pray that colours will still hold till then.
Our inn has plenty of availability and is in the mountains East of Burlington near Jay Peak. I would think you would find open rooms this year at the last minute since alot of people are hesitant to travel to Vermont this year due to the flooding, tho all but one or two roads are back open and I personally don't know of any inns that have not opened yet, tho there may be a couple scattered here and there. This is the slowest October I can remember, so it is great for last minute travelers. Jay Kerch, Montgomery Center, Vermont
Does anyone have availability for this Sat. Oct. 9 ? Please message me.
OrthoAEA, For many options in Woodstock check out the village website www.woodstockvt.com, where you may get a cancellation, however looking at the site now it is showin the Carrige House as having one room and everyone else is full. So check them out on TA now and hit the phone ASAP if you want it!
