Killington

I'm thinking about using Killington as a 3 night (2 day) base 5,6, &7 October, Killington motel, to tour that part of Vermont. Short hikes, photography, general sightseeing etc. We will move on to Arlington for 3 nights to tour that area of Vermont.

Any comments or suggestions.

Afternoon Teeside Traveller,

Killington Motel seems to get some good reviews and is a central place in the Green mountains to be based, but from memory you will need to drive everywhere so don't think you can tootle out for dinner on foot.

From what I have seen on the 'net there are quite a few restaurants in the Killington area. It’s not a problem to drive a short distance for an evening meal. As long as it’s central in the north Green Mountain area – Quechee Gorge, Route 100, possibly Stowe etc.

Yup it's central, about 35 minutes from Woodstock. If you wanted an alternative you may care to check out the motels in White River Junction (Holiday inn express et al) as they may allow you to access Quechee and Woodstock with less of a drive. Or if you fancy Castleton and a B & B, just outside of Rutland, there seems to be highly rated reasonably priced B & B there, Applewood Manor.
